Built in the 1540s, this striking Grade A-listed tower house is full of authentic Medieval castle charm – from the spiral staircase that winds its way through the heart of the building, to the enormous crackling fire in the Great Hall. Now fitted with all the amenities of a 21st-century home, this self-catered venue has five en-suite bedrooms (sleeping up to ten guests) and four reception rooms. No guest has ever failed to have a wonderful, cosy night’s sleep in the stunningly comfortable beds!

Just an hour’s drive over the border from England and south of Edinburgh, immersed in the stunning rolling hills of the Ettrick Forest, Aikwood Tower is ideally located for a relaxing winter getaway with family or friends.

Renowned as the ‘Larder of Britain’, the local produce in the Borders is second-to-none for sourcing supplies for your festive feasts, while the rolling hills of the Ettrick and Yarrow valleys provide a plentiful array of winter activities – from clay-pigeon shooting to fishing the local rivers and horse-riding or mountain-biking to simply wandering the (often snow-dusted) woodland paths.

For the New Year period, Aikwood Tower is truly transformed, with two real Christmas trees and fabulous decorations throughout; its magical charms captivate everyone who visits.
