The seat of Clan MacIain for over 300 years, it’s one of Scotland’s true hidden gems. Until early 2016, the castle was all but an abandoned ruin. After three years of meticulous restoration work, you can stay and experience for yourself an elegant combination of luxury and history.

"There are not enough superlatives available to cover our Christmas visit. Jess, Colin and the crew were amazing, we couldn't have asked for anything more for our experience. We rented the MacIain Suite, and it exceeded our expectations. From the experience of first sight in the suite, the scent (excellent choice of "Whiskey & Honey" from the Highland soap company), to the size of the bed, the amazing bathroom, the unexpected "wardrobe" with complimentary robe and slippers, everything was beyond perfection. Coming from Arizona, USA, it was especially appreciated that the Scottish Isles gave us the most enjoyable weather we could have asked for...rain, glorious rain! The room was perfectly toasty even with windows semi-open. I even recorded about 5 minutes of the howling wind through the windows of our third story room, to continue to listen to when home again. Another guilty pleasure was purchasing the "Whiskey & Honey" scented diffuser from the Highland soap company, to extend our enjoyment, and memories while back in the states. Now the crowning achievement: Colin's menu, and presentation, for the three night Christmas stay was exquisite. I managed restaurants for over 30 years, and have done significant traveling, I've never experienced the level of professionalism, or variations using local produce, and thought used when pairing flavors. We wanted to steal Jess and Colin to bring back home with us...that's a very high recommendation! We do hope to return just to stay with Jess and Colin."

A signature eight-course tasting menu on your first evening, traditional Christmas dinner on Christmas Day, and a five-course menu on your last evening.
A gourmet breakfast each morning.
On arrival, enjoy complimentary mulled wine or a glass of fizz with homemade mince pies, by the cosy fire.
Your host, Jess, and the team will help to organise any activities and have many recommendations for lovely walking routes around the peninsula. While Chef Patron, Colin, will carefully prepare and create each menu for you, featuring local and seasonal produce.
