Wonderfully restored 13th-century castle in the heart of County Wexford
A place of immense history and a castle of two halves…Wilton’s two-toned façade (the left, white-painted side intricately restored; the right-hand side a magnificent empty shell) immediately looks out onto a beautifully-manicured lawn after which a sweeping gravel drive leads out of the confines of the original castle walls over a low bridge and on into lush, open grass and parkland.

Part of the original landscape since 1247, the once ruinous Wilton Castle is situated amid the romantic rolling hills of County Wexford, and on the banks of the Boro River, just two hours south-west of Dublin. Silhouetted against the ethereal backdrop of the Blackstairs Mountains, awash with thick forest, this turreted, crenellated castle appears the epitome of peace and tranquillity.
Inside, further romance is revealed in the form of grandiose fireplaces, high ceilings and a pretty wallpapered theme for every room. Every detail has been designed with precision and care. The abundance of Georgian-style sash windows allow all the rooms to be filled with light and the interior décor is a wealth of texture, from polished wooden floors to soft, cascading curtains and carefully exposed stone walls. This all adds to the warmth and sublimely comforting atmosphere of Wilton Castle and gives it a refined country manor feel akin to the gloriously lush natural landscape surrounding it.
Wilton Castle is noted for its charming hospitality and flexible approach to hosting weddings, promising the most unique and magical of days for you and up to 85 guests. The castle’s dedicated wedding coordinator will take care of every detail, from recommending local, trusted suppliers to subtly overseeing every element of your wedding on the day, enabling you to relax and enjoy every moment.
Your wedding ceremony

Thirteenth-century Wilton Castle is truly a venue of dreams; whilst one half has been sympathetically and lovingly restored to its former glory by current owner Sean Windsor, the other half, patiently waiting for its own restoration, stands just as proudly and projecting an ethereal charm all of its own.
Your wedding would take place predominantly in this section of the castle (which can be covered during wet weather) with seating for up to 85 guests. Imagine the romance of your wedding ceremony as it takes place within the vast exposed space of the castle ruins complete with its natural, timeless atmosphere; hundreds of years of history emanating from every stone and architrave and a serene parkland meeting an endless sky view through sunlit-filled high arches, more authentic than that seen through any glazed window.
After exchanging your vows, you and your guests can make use of the immediate garden setting outside the castle, sipping reception drinks against the enchanting backdrop of Wilton’s peaceful tree-dotted estate.
Should you prefer to hold your ceremony in the banqueting hall of the castle, then of course that can instead be accommodated with ease.
For larger events, marquee weddings can be accommodated for up to 220 guests.
Your wedding breakfast and reception
Flexibility continues through to your wedding breakfast: you could opt for a fine-dining experience, or perhaps a simple buffet affair or maybe a banquet with musical accompaniment; the choice is yours! Seated in the long yet cosy Banqueting Hall, you and up to 85 wedding guests can enjoy scrumptious Irish cuisine from the decadent to the hearty, basking in spectacular parkland views surrounded by naturalistically styled and comforting interiors. The hall is decorated in muted reds and the walls painted a gentle fawn. Flecks of bronze, gold and pewter can be seen in design accents, such as chair coverings, candelabra chandeliers and wall-mounted lighting.
After the wedding reception, guests may wander out of the French doors which open onto the landscaped gardens, leading down from the terraces to the scenic and peaceful Boro River.
Into the evening...
Later, watch Wilton Castle transform under soft, ambient lights, into your evening space. This bespoke wedding experience enables you to select from a range of evening wedding entertainment that reflects you as a couple. Why not hire a small band or have your guests entertained by a piper?
Use the castle as if it was your own home, delighting in the ornately framed oil paintings that adorn the hallways or chatting on a cosy window seat. Likewise, you and your wedding party can wander the beautiful gardens to admire the flora, listen to the evening birdsong and enjoy a nightcap on the riverbank.
