Wonderfully restored 13th-century castle in the heart of County Wexford

A place of immense history and a castle of two halves…Wilton’s two-toned façade (the left, white-painted side intricately restored; the right-hand side a magnificent empty shell) immediately looks out onto a beautifully manicured lawn after which a sweeping gravel drive leads out of the confines of the original castle walls over a low bridge and on into lush, open grass and parkland.

Wilton Castle Views

Part of the original landscape since 1247, the once ruinous Wilton Castle is situated amid the romantic rolling hills of County Wexford, and on the banks of the Boro River, just two hours south-west of Dublin. Silhouetted against the ethereal backdrop of the Blackstairs Mountains, awash with thick forest, this turreted, crenellated castle appears the epitome of peace and tranquillity.

Available on a self-catered exclusive-use basis, the castle’s seven bedrooms are spread across four luxury self-contained apartments, sleeping up to fourteen guests in total.

If a combination of a vast heritage, amazing architecture and a stunning Irish landscape are your idea of a heavenly getaway or special celebration stay with family or friends, then look no further than Wilton Castle. A warm welcome is always ensured!

Exclusive use of the castle

As soon as you enter the small but perfectly formed castle door, flanked by flowers either side, you will start to feel at home. Not only will you receive the warmest of welcomes, but the charm of Wilton will instantly envelop you as you take in the comforting country manor vibe and the care and attention to detail that has gone into restoring each and every corner.

Striking arched sash windows are adorned with luxurious drapes in tactile fabrics whilst feature walls are awash with beautiful wallpaper – a different design for every room! Every effort has gone into making this 13th-century property feel like a true home – and a luxurious one at that.

Exceptional hospitality

Wilton Castle is noted for its long-standing hospitality towards all those who stay here. In the 1800s, the grounds were open to the public and, during this time, an observer wrote; ‘not only are strangers permitted to walk over the grounds but even their horses are cared for’. Along with this hospitality, the castle is also extremely flexible for guests. The property is let on a self-catered basis to give you freedom throughout your stay, although caterers can be brought in to arrange dinner for as many meals as you wish. You can opt for a fine-dining experience or perhaps a simple buffet to enjoy with your intimate party or guests.
