Boasting battlements, turrets, parapets and grand windows, this authentically and tastefully-styled property has a history as rich as its architecture, alongside a timeless and quintessentially British ambience. Crossing the bridge over the moat to the huge iron castle door, taking a morning stroll amongst pristinely-manicured conical hedges and waking up under Medieval ceilings, will transport you back to the Tudor times. Inside, Medieval attributes are decorated in a refined country style; each bedroom provides an elegantly-adorned sanctuary whilst the plentiful reception rooms offer a versatile living space.
Middleton Castle is exclusively let on a self-catered basis for up to 30 guests (with catering available on request). Modern comforts (including excellent wi-fi) feature seamlessly without imposing on the carefully-preserved historic charm.
The Rooms
Each room and space in Middleton Castle is abound with character and dressed in splendour. Refined period details are noted in wall murals, polished wood panelling and ornate fireplaces, whilst an atmosphere of old-fashioned luxury emanates from fine antiques and rich fabrics.






The Hall
The grand hallway boasts period features, including an ornate floor and a vast staircase to the floors above.

All four of these are beautifully styled, featuring stunning open fires and vast views through large windows.
Dining Room
The oak-panelled dining room, seating up to 30 people, can host epic feasts for your party of guests.
Billiards Room
This entertaining space houses table tennis, a snooker table and a collection of board games.
Kitchen
At the heart of the home, this family kitchen with a traditional AGA, as well as a separate prep kitchen, showcases neutrally-toned worktops and a large dining table to create a welcoming, social space.

Middleton Castle sleeps up to 30 guests in 15 beautifully-appointed bedrooms, 5 of which have their own elegant en-suite bathrooms. The master suite features an adjoining reception room and there are a handful of family bathrooms. Expect exceptionally cosy rooms in spite of their ample size and extremely comfortable beds.
There are 2 cottages close to the main house, each self-contained with their own kitchen, living room, and sheltered stone terrace.
Activities/Leisure
If you’re keen to explore the local area, there is a wealth of sights and culture on the doorstep of Middleton Castle. Just beyond the grounds are plenty of invigorating walks through fabulous scenery. You’re also close to Norfolk’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the stunning northern coast which includes the famous Hunstanton Seal Sanctuary, Cromer and Holkham Beach.
Gardens/Estate
Featuring a private moat and 85 acres of stunning parkland grounds to explore, Middleton Estate offers both beauty and interest before a scenic countryside backdrop. The thick woodland and open parkland are full of varied wildlife.
Enjoy discovering the summer house, playing on the croquet lawn and relaxing amongst the outdoor seating area, featuring fire pits and a barbecue. Should you book Middleton for a large celebratory event, you may like to make good use of the 450-square-metre marquee footprint or helicopter landing area.
History
Middleton Castle is a Grade I listed building, set within a moat, and consists of a 15th-century gatehouse and a house of the late 19th and early 20th century. The de Scales family had the lordship of the manor from the reign of Henry II in the 12th century. The gatehouse was constructed just 6 years before he was ousted in the War of the Roses, around 1455 by Thomas Scales, 7th Baron Scales.

Middleton Castle is available for exclusive-use, self-catered stays with a minimum booking of two nights, starting at £5500 per night. Optional catering services can be arranged for some or all of your stay, with pricing based on your specific needs.
Location
Middleton village lies on the A47, just over an hour’s drive from Norwich and two and a half hours by road or rail from London.
The stunning North Norfolk coast is a short drive away, whilst a day spent on the golden sands of Wells-next-the-Sea beach is unforgettable. The market town of King’s Lynn, a ten-minute drive away, offers a range of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, as does Norwich, with its stunning Medieval architecture and thriving art scene, set among historic surroundings.
