Lough Cutra Castle is situated in South Galway at the end of a mile-long driveway, on the banks of a 1000-acre lake from which it takes its name. Conveniently close to Galway and Shannon Airport, Lough Cutra Castle is available for private hire on an exclusive-use basis. Perfect for family or friends, private parties, gala dinners, filming, music festivals; the list is endless!
The Castle
Completed in 1817 and designed by world-renowned architect John Nash, who also designed Buckingham Palace, Lough Cutra is steeped in the history of the surrounding South Galway County area.
On a private, gated and secure estate, the castle is let on a self-catering basis, sleeping 18 people in 9 bedrooms.
Very much retaining the relaxed atmosphere of a family home, Lough Cutra offers something for everyone. The luxurious bedrooms and modern bathrooms are perfect for relaxing, while the wide open drawing rooms are perfect for socialising.
Three of the castle’s function rooms, The Dining Room, Saloon and the Gough Room, all overlook the lake. In warmer weather, The Saloon can open out onto the outdoor terrace.
The full-time staff of three are on-hand to give guidance and organise activities. Additional staff (including catering) can be arranged if desired.
The estate features a restored walled garden, a greenhouse, eleven islands in the lake with various remnants of a chapel, a monastery, and abandoned homes.

The guide price detailed above is per night for exclusive use of the castle for up to 18 adults. Continental breakfast is included in the price, but otherwise the castle is let on a self-catering basis. Additional meals and staff can be organised for your stay, should you wish.
Please note that stays at the castle are subject to a 3-night minimum stay policy year-round. The third night of your stay will be offered at a discounted rate of €8000 as a result.

Our wedding weekend at Lough Cutra Castle turned out to be an event to remember thanks to our friends and family… and also to the owner, Susie and her extended family (aka, excellent staff) at Lough Cutra Castle. The property is in a beautiful and remote setting and made for the perfect backdrop to our weekend. We planned our September wedding from overseas without a wedding planner. This presented many challenges and would have been much more difficult without the expert assistance and guidance of Carrie from Lough Cutra Castle. Carrie was very accommodating to our requests and her thoughtful recommendations were spot on. The caterers (Green Olive) Carrie recommended were all we could hope for and more… great people and incredible tasting food! The bar staff, which was also recommended, were professional and very easy to work with. We rented the castle and all the cottages for the weekend and everyone had a great stay! Susie, the owner of Lough Cutra Castle, was very gracious and genuinely concerned that all was going smoothly. Barry, Gordon, Lulu and the rest of the staff were all fantastic! They are all very personable and professional. Their efforts ensured that everything ran smoothly and they were always helpful to our family and friends. Our requests were consistently met with “certainly” and “not a problem’. Luckily our day went off without a hitch and that “luck” was due to planning and the great assistance by the wonderful Lough Cutra Castle family! We still think about the fabulous time we had often. Whenever we speak to our wedding guests, the first thing they say is what an amazing time they had at the castle. It truly was picture perfect and everyone there was went above and beyond to make it a memorable experience.
Thirty Five of my extended family and I (ages 5 to 75) had the distinct pleasure and the distinctive experience of sharing the fabulous surroundings and warm hospitality of Lough Cutra Castle, in Gort, Ireland. My wife, 3 of our 4 children and their families, my 2 brothers and their wives, daughters, and daughters’ significant others, and my sister's 3 daughters and their families all journeyed to the Emerald Isle separately, but joined at Lough Cutra for the most memorable family vacation we’ve ever had. As you can see on their website, the setting and scenery are spectacular. The castle is steeped in history yet comfortable and cozy, the carriage houses are ideal for families with children, and the surrounding areas of Ireland provide many opportunities for scenery and experiences of a lifetime. We worked with the staff to tailor the menus, the meals were top quality, and prepared and served promptly. That said, what makes Lough Cutra so unique and so special are the staff: expert, attentive, but perhaps more importantly genuinely warm, friendly, and accommodating. Leaving Lough Cutra one feels he is leaving friends behind. In closing, I sincerely recommend Lough Cutra for an experience that you and your group will never forget.
Lough Cutra Castle was the majestic setting for our wedding that hosted my husband, children and our guests for the event of a lifetime. We planned our wedding far in advance, and from abroad, and were provided with exceptional support and sophisticated recommendations from start to finish. Planning from abroad presented a certain level of uncertainty in regards to how the wedding would unfold, but what was to come far exceeded our expectations. During the breakfasts, tea times, and evenings in the saloon, memories were made that will last forever. The enchanting atmosphere allowed every guest to relax and feel a part of something truly special. Each team member at Lough Cutra Castle added to our event with their own flare and went far beyond expectations to ensure we had every detail just the way we wanted for the wedding day, and even after. The administration, housekeeping staff and the butler kept us comfortable at all times and were ahead of us with every finishing touch – coordinating mealtimes and vendors, playing music, keeping rooms and common areas organized and clean, and setting up teatime fit for royalty. The castle itself is grand, yet cozy, and the grounds are more than can be pictured or imagined with the private lake, gardens and animals. There is truly something there for everyone. We would come back time and time again. Our guests cant believe that they got to stay in a castle for a weekend and our family cherishes the moments here, looking back wondering if it really happened. Pictures cannot capture the value, and beauty of Lough Cutra Castle and the people who represent it. Thank-you to each and every one of you!

The various activities you arranged on our behalf were well organized and enjoyed by all, especially the clay pigeon shooting and fishing. I think however, what made our visit truly special was the warmth with which we were welcomed and the around the clock attention provided by Barry and Gordon. They were absolutely fantastic.
