If a countryside baronial manor positioned conveniently close to the cultural delights of Scotland’s famous capital sounds appealing, then Cringletie couldn’t be more ideal for you. The property is situated just north of the historic and picturesque Scottish Borders’ town of Peebles. It is only 30 minutes from Edinburgh and is easily accessible via a variety of transport links from any direction – you can even arrive by helicopter!

Located in 28 acres of varied landscapes, Cringletie has a true fairy-tale feel complete with pink stone walls, a castellated outline and tiny turrets. You and your guests are welcome to explore the country estate, which ranges from an impeccable four-sectioned walled garden to rugged farmland.
The property is noted for its award-winning service and hospitality. Your dedicated Weddings and Event Manager will take care of every detail from assisting with suppliers to subtly overseeing every element of your wedding on the day, enabling you to relax and enjoy each moment.

Traditional Scottish décor permeates the interior. A majestic staircase made of elegantly carved balustrades climbs up through the core of the property. High doors open up into grand rooms featuring panelled walls and detailed cornices. Throughout the castle you will come across beautiful furniture, imposing fireplaces and large, ornately framed and lavishly adorned windows.
The immediate landscape offers ample opportunity for romantic outdoor photographs; pose together amongst the tall grass as it sways in the gentle breeze around your feet or wander with the alpacas in the castle grounds. Farmhouses and trees dotted in the hillside beyond will create a wonderful countryside backdrop for capturing your very first happy moments as a wedded couple.
Your ceremony

Cringletie House is licensed to hold civil and religious wedding ceremonies in both the main house and across the estate. This versatile Scottish Baronial home can host either a small, intimate gathering from 6 to 20 guests (including a special midweek package) or a larger wedding of up to 70 guests. Weekend weddings must be taken on an exclusive-use basis with a minimum of 40 guests.
Should you choose to exchange your vows outdoors, the lovely lawned area features a backdrop of the parkland. Create your dream countryside ceremony by adding lanterns either side of the aisle, an abundance of flowers and the gentle sounds of a harp being played in the background. Imagine all this set against an unmatchable skyline of tall trees and softly-curved hillsides.
Your wedding breakfast and reception
The head chef and team would be delighted to propose the perfect fine-dining menu for your wedding breakfast. The signature menu ‘A modern taste of Scotland’ offers exactly what the name suggests to add to your overall authentic experience of this unique, rural Scottish estate. The team would also be happy to offer a wine-match for your wedding dinner.
The fabulous conservatory is a picture-perfect space for your wedding reception. With a billowing fabric which fills the ceiling and drapes down the windows, the light and airy room seamlessly links the inside of this characterful house to its glorious outside setting. During the day, make the most of the great outdoors – wandering the gardens, playing pitch-and-put or a game of giant chess. You could even book your very own Highland Games for guests to enjoy on the estate!
Into the evening...
Later, watch fairy lights dance around at the windows as the conservatory transforms into your evening space. Cringletie encourages you to choose wedding entertainment that reflects you as individuals. Why not hire a Scottish piper with dancers to entertain your guests or take advantage of the range of activities the castle will happily arrange from singers to casino tables, a photo booth or fireworks?
A castle for all seasons...
Whatever time of year you choose to marry at Cringletie, you can be assured of plenty of outdoor scenic spots for your wedding photographs. The summer sees brightly coloured rows of rhododendrons, autumn trees turn a mix of gold, copper and red, whilst snowdrops in winter and daffodils in the spring cover the wild, woodland floors.
