Cloughan Castle is an authentic 13th-century castle, located in the north-west of Ireland, on the route of the world-famous Wild Atlantic Way.

Ideal for everything from an intimate family getaway to a larger private celebration, Cloughan Castle boasts a combination of Medieval charm and character, blended with modern living amenities.
Seven unique castle bedrooms sleeping up to 14 people and two versatile reception rooms can host events for up to 120 guests. Combined with an idyllic backdrop, a truly memorable Irish castle experience awaits you.
The Castle
Follow the long sweeping driveway to the beautifully restored castle, with its ornamental stonework and imposing four-storey tower. Sitting within several acres of matured woodlands with striking panoramic countryside views, this lovingly restored 13th-century castle offers an effortless blend of elegance and comfort.






The castle has many typical Norman features: arched doorways, circular turrets and battlements. Inside you will find exposed natural stone walls, wooden beamed ceilings and stone or wooden floors. The walls are constructed of natural stone from the area, with most of the walls standing six feet in depth. A winding 90-step stairway connects the various levels.
Accommodation
There are 7 bedrooms sleeping up to 14 adults. Each bedroom has been thoughtfully refurbished and re-decorated to the highest standard, each has its own individual character and carrying its own sense of history.

History
Loughrea was said to be founded in 1236 by the Anglo-Norman knight, Richard de Burgo. Some miles away, halfway between Loughrea and Gort, just outside the village of Kilchreest, Cloughan Castle was built in 1239, as an out-post fortification.

Meals can be arranged separately, depending on your requirements. A guide price is approximately €120 per person per day, but packages can be tailored to meet the needs of each group.
Location
Cloughan Castle is nestled in picturesque Irish countryside, in between the towns of Loughrea and Gort, just 20 miles from Galway City. Dublin is approximately 2 hours away.
