Leisure

Château de Bourron is set in 100 acres of enclosed, walled grounds.

The grounds encompass grass and woodland adjoining the forest of Fontainebleau. You can explore yourself, or with a guide, or even take a tour with sled dogs. You can discover a few surprises, such as a romantic spring from Neolithic times, called “source Saint-Sévère”, the statue of Céres to the north and the statue of Saint-Joseph under the clusters of trees.

There is a clay tennis court which is often available to use during the drier, summer months. There is also a children's sandpit close-by.

Those exploring the surrounding region and its rich heritage may wish to take in the Palace of Fontainebleau, the castles of Vaux-le-Vicomte and Barbizon, as well as various sites that were popular with Impressionist painters.

And of course Paris, with all its world-famous attractions, is just an hour away!

Michelle, United StatesA breathtaking property with very friendly owners and wonderful service. A magical stay!
Vicki, United StatesWow! Exactly as advertised, a real castle with a moat, guard houses and incredible photo ops! When we arrived the incredibly kind and helpful proprietor picked us up from the train station which was literally one minute away and we could have easily walked but with bags was nice to have a ride. We settled in to the comfortable room and then took the bikes out and roamed around the many acres around the castle which was beautiful and I felt like I was in a fairytale. There was an actual photo shoot going on when we arrived which exemplified the high society and fancy feeling you had when you were on the premises. The bed seemed new with the perfect, amazingly supportive mattress and the bedding was fluffy and fab. We indulged in the bathtub which was fit for a queen. Then it was time to explore the town which was one of the highlights. Tiny little streets, tiny little bakeries where we bought croissants, adorable little restaurants and a small market with essentials. Make sure the restaurants are open the days you stay. The breakfast at the castle was the MOST FABULOUS! It was served in this beautiful dramatic room with everything you can imagine ….the best bread, the best jam, the best butter, eggs, yogurt, coffee, tea and delicious fruit. I think we sat for breakfast for two hours staring out the window at the beauty while eating and drinking like kings and queens. This place would be beautiful and comfortable during any season. We want to come back in the summer and even in the winter when there is snow. STUNNING!
Jeff, United StatesMy wife and I stopped here on our honeymoon for a couple nights, and it was absolutely perfect. The grounds were in excellent shape, and we hiked around the whole property several times enjoying the atmosphere. The chateau was in great shape, and the owners were incredibly nice - as were the residents of the nearby town. We would recommend staying here to anyone.
