Summer is fast approaching and, if you haven't made holiday plans just yet, we may just have the thing for you...Celtic Castles' Tours are designed by a team of experienced Castle Sales Advisors to offer you the best possible experience.
If history is your thing, then the 'London to Edinburgh Historic Cities Tour' is a must! Starting off in central London, there are museums galore to keep you entertained; The British Museum, Tate Modern Gallery, Natural History Museum and Science Museum to name just a handful!
From London, you've got a two hour drive to Thornbury Castle, a 26-room luxury property and the only Tudor castle open as a hotel. Just a decade after it's founding, Thornbury Castle was confiscated by King Henry VIII in 1521, who stayed here for a while with his queen, Anne Boleyn. He maintained ownership of the property until the 1650s, during which time the property fell into a state of disrepair following the English Civil War, a series of military conflicts between the Parliamentarians and the Royalists.
The next destination, Swinton Park, is a little further north and a stone's throw from York, one of the most historically important cities in the region. The Cunliffe-Lister family has owned the castle since the 1880’s, and it is the ancestral seat of the Earl of Swinton. This castle offers an authentic stately home experience, with the rooms furnished with antiques and family portraits, and provides the warmth and grandeur of a traditional English house.
After Swinton you've got a two hour drive to 14th century Langley Castle, nestled within the Northumbrian valley of South Tyne and set in a ten acre woodland estate. Built in 1350, during the reign of Edward III, Langley Castle has retained its architectural integrity and is regarded as one of the few Medieval fortified castle hotels in England. The castle offers guests an exclusive centre from which to explore Hadrian's Wall, the Northumbrian countryside and history.
The final stop on your tour is the recently refurbished Melville Castle, just outside Edinburgh, this gives you the chance to experience an authentic castle stay paired with everything the capital city of Scotland has to offer!
