For those of an active disposition, Dalhousie Castle is in an enviable position in that you can enjoy a wide variety of leisure pursuits that range from the energetic to the leisurely.
Game shooting is available, plus you can try your hand at archery. Horse riding can also be arranged, and the choice for golfers is exceptional – a number of superb courses can be found nearby.
There is also an excellent choice of fly fishing. You can cast for trout on the nearby lochs or try for salmon on the legendary river Tweed – equipment, tuition and ghilly can be provided.
In terms of dining options… these are plentiful! It is hard to imagine a more evocative setting than the Dungeon Restaurant in which to enjoy excellent traditional Scottish castle cuisine that features fresh local produce such as salmon, venison, grouse and prime Scottish beef.
The Orangery Restaurant, on the other hand, with its sweeping views over the South Esk river, offers a more informal environment with a lighter and more contemporary menu.
