Thornbury Castle resonates with history. But step behind the heavy oak doors and you'll find a magnificent hotel with roaring fires, delicious modern cuisine and sumptuous bedchambers. Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn once walked the castle's rooms and grounds. Today, the 500 year-old castle with its beautiful oriel windows, Tudor hall and historic parkland is a place of tranquility, with easy access from London. There has even been a vineyard within the castle walls for over 500 years, from which Thornbury Castle wine is still produced.

Roaring log fire places, Tudor décor and unparalleled service are but a few reasons to make Thornbury Castle your destination of choice this Christmas. This once royal residence resonates with history, creating the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a seasonal break to remember.

Rates are from £1785 for the three night break in a Classic Room, based on two adults sharing a double or twin room.

A TRULY MAGICAL CHRISTMAS

Christmas Eve
Arrive during the afternoon and enjoy cream tea in the lounge and library. At 7pm, join your fellow guests for a black tie Champagne reception, where you'll be entertained by festive carol singers. After a fabulous five-course gourmet dinner, you may wish to take a stroll to one of the two local churches for Midnight Mass.

Christmas Day
A continental breakfast will be served in your bedchamber, whilst you unwrap the goodies in your Christmas stocking. At noon, meet in the lounge by the Christmas tree where you will receive a complimentary glass of Sherry and a Christmas gift. At 1pm a Christmas feast will be served with all the trimmings. Afterwards, either relax or embark on the Tudor Quest – the search for a mysterious lost jewel ‘the heart of Jasper Tudor’ believed to be hidden in the castle grounds. Later, enjoy cocktails and an informal light supper with a Port tasting.

Boxing Day
After a hearty hunter's breakfast, served in the dining room, you may wish to stroll into the village to see the spectacular and traditional departure of the Berkeley Hunt. Then, return to the castle for a light two-course lunch, after which you will be entertained by a spectacular falconry display on the castle lawn, with the castle's resident falconer, Michael Davie. In the evening you will be welcomed to a farewell gala dinner.
